Iowa Signs Foreign Funding Ban into Law

Today, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds signed House File 2601 into law, legislation banning foreign nationals from influencing ballot issue campaigns. APT Executive Director Caitlin Sutherland released the following statement after HF 2601 was signed into law:

“We applaud Governor Reynolds and the Iowa Legislature for taking the critical step of banning foreign money in ballot measure campaigns. It’s commonsense that only U.S. citizens should be influencing our politics. With Governor Reynolds signing HB 2601 into law, Iowa is now the 11th state in just two years to comprehensively ban foreign money from influencing state politics.”
