Hatch Act Complaint Filed Against Secretary Marcia Fudge

Today, Americans for Public Trust filed a Hatch Act complaint with the Office of Special Counsel against Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Marcia Fudge.

Today, Americans for Public Trust filed a Hatch Act complaint with the Office of Special Counsel against Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Marcia Fudge. Federal law, known as the Hatch Act, prohibits federal employees from conducting political activities on official duty and on official government property. Secretary Fudge violated the Hatch Act during a White House press briefing on the American Rescue Plan, the $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief package, on March 18th

In her first official appearance, Secretary Fudge discussed an upcoming Ohio Senate race in 2022 and advocated for a Democrat party victory. Secretary Fudge used her first official appearance to discuss politics rather than focus on official business. Previously, she has criticized other cabinet secretaries for such activity. This is a clear violation of the Hatch Act and a destruction of public trust.
