Fake Newsroom Falls Flat in Boosting Vulnerable Freshman

After spending millions of dollars to boost vulnerable Democrat freshman, many Courier Newsroom-backed candidates fell short on Election Day.

After spending millions of dollars to boost vulnerable Democrat freshman, many Courier Newsroom-backed candidates fell short on Election Day. Out of the competitive House races Courier spent in, Representatives Abby Finkenauer, Xochitl Torres Small, Max Rose, Gil Cisneros, and Harley Rouda were all defeated. They fake newsroom also spent over $100,000 supporting Anthony Brindisi, but the race remains uncalled.  


The dark money-backed newsroom ran nearly 200 unique advertisements backing these candidates. While these advertisements were designed to look like “news” articles, diligent APT reporting has revealed that they are just a political group masquerading as an online news organization.


In September, APT filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission against Courier Newsroom for failing to file as a political committee.
