APT Files Lawsuit Against FEC Seeking Action Regarding Alleged Illegal Foreign Contributions

Today, Americans For Public Trust filed (APT) a lawsuit in the Washington D.C. District Court urging the Federal Elections Commission (FEC) to take further action on alleged illegal donations made by Swiss billionaire Hansjörg Wyss to Democratic and liberal campaigns and causes.

Today, Americans for Public Trust (APT) filed a lawsuit in the Washington D.C. District Court urging the Federal Elections Commission (FEC) to take further action on alleged illegal donations made by Swiss billionaire Hansjörg Wyss to Democratic and liberal campaigns and causes. APT has discovered through research that Mr. Wyss has admitted he’s not a U.S. citizen, which could make many of his donations to U.S. political causes and campaigns illegal.

“Americans for Public Trust is suing the FEC for failing to investigate foreign money in our elections. Mr. Wyss, who is barred from directly or indirectly influencing our elections, has done just that by potentially funneling hundreds of millions of dollars through the Arabella Advisors network to benefit liberal and left-wing causes. Until the FEC takes action, we won’t know the full extent of his foreign interference in our electoral process,” APT Executive Director Caitlin Sutherland said in a statement regarding the lawsuit.

Contrary to law and Wyss’s statements, he has been deeply involved with the Democratic Party both directly and indirectly. Wyss has boasted about his White House contacts and even claimed to support senators for election. FEC records confirm that Wyss has directly donated to Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) and former Reps. Jay Inslee (D-WA) and Mark Udall (D-CO).
