APT Files FEC Complaint Against Expensify

Today, Americans for Public Trust filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission against Expensify and their CEO, David Barrett. On October 22nd, Expensify sent an email to 10 million of its customers urging them to vote for Joe Biden. This type of communication is considered an independent expenditure should have been reported to the FEC within 24 hours of sending the email. Yet, a week later, no report has been filed, leaving voters in the dark on the total cost of their corporate activism.

The FEC should intervene to make sure their actions comply with the law and ensure that all Americans are held to the same standards when choosing to use corporate resources to explicitly advocate for a candidate of their preference.

The full complaint can be read here.
